Writer's Block: I Don't Normally Do This Kind of Thing
Have you ever found yourself enjoying something you had previously scorned as a cliché? What was it?
Well.

I used to love boybands. When I was like 9 years old... The I discovered Queen, Bowie, Neil Young, Beatles etc etc etc, the list continues into the endless...endlessness. And boyband were long since history in my mind.

But.

One day I discovered an idol group from Japan called Arashi. In the west they're considered as a boyband. And I've fallen completely for them. They're such lovely lads <3 I guess kind of what I like about them is that they in some way or another reminds me of The Beatles. Without getting all too deep and philosophic, I think The Beatles had a very positive vibe - They were (and still are in my opinion) the most famous pop group in the world and yet they were not stuck up nor arrogant (mostly :) ) and they knew they were people like everyone else.

I get some of that typical Beatle-vibe from Arashi also, and I guess that's why I like them. They're idols alright, but they seem so down-to-earth compared to a lot of others in the entertainment business. They do so many silly, cool and lovable things and you will notice when they're having fun and when they're not. Real people, I like that.

So.

These guys are my new love, but that doesn't mean I've let the other ones go. I still listen to Beatles, Neil Young, Queen and lots of those other old rockers; I'd never forget them because..to be frank, they've made a good person of me :)  Therefore I find it really amusing that a person like me would even consider listening to and liking Arashi.  But that's as far as it goes though. It's just them. I don't get that same vibe from KAT-TUN og News or HSJ etc. Only Arashi :D But I Love it! And I want to go to one of their concerts so bad! And I don't think I'm mistaken if I dare say Arashi is by far one of the most successful groups from Johnny's Entertainment. I congratulate them on their 10 year anniversary (1999-2009) and hope they'll continue to sing, dance, act and just be lovely dorks for many years to come!

i think you just elaborate what i have in my mind O_O
whoa. seriously.

surprisingly, most of my (perhaps considered as) close friends thought i don't like anything else of arashi right now. XD
it's probably because arashi is what i currently love to talk about, to brag about, but that doesn't mean i leave my first love L'Arc~en~Ciel. well, basically something like that ^^

(it's pretty funny: how people judge based only outer shells)

Indeed. I think it's so hopeless when people judge you out of one thing, or judge you comparing "the old you" to "the new you" and concluding that "the old you were much better".

The way I see it there's no "old or new" but simply a biiig mix of everything (throughout one's entire life) that makes a person who she/he really is. And it's a tad sad when people can't accept that. Well, that's my opinion anyway :)

I was never into boybands .. I scorned the gals that cried over the dismembering of Take That, I was a happy Goth and the only stuff from Japan that I listened to was X-Japan, L'Arc~en~ciel, Naitomea ... the usual jrock stuff ... until ... I saw Kimura in PRIDE. When I discovered he was in a boyband I scorned and laughed .. and yet I listened to one of their songs (Lionheart) ... I never scorn boyband fans ever again :) Still a goth, still loving jrock, but SMAP is my no.1 love where boybands are concerned :D
